📅 4 September 2026 – 7.00 pm
📍 Church of San Pietro in Silki, Sassari The Orfeo Futuro ensemble presents a programme at Sassari dedicated to Italian musical culture and its influence across Europe. The event forms part of a double concert series taking place on 4 September at Sassari and on 5 September in Uri. Performing on stage will be Angelica Di Santo (soprano), Giovanni Rota and Valerio La Tartara (violins), Gioacchino De Padova (viola da gamba), Gabriele Natilla (theorbo) and Pierfrancesco Borrelli (harpsichord). The programme is dedicated to the central role of Italian musical culture during its golden age, spanning
from the invention of the ‘Seconda Pratica’ to the international success of vocal music and opera, practised with equal mastery by composers from northern Europe.
The instrumental interludes are drawn from the vast body of chamber music which, having also flourished on the Italian peninsula, went on to influence musical cultures beyond the Alps, with particular emphasis on variations on a basso ostinato, which were warmly received by the European musical world, long enamoured with the practices of instrumental dance. The event forms part of the ‘Note senza tempo’ series, an international early music festival founded in Sassari in 2019, dedicated to promoting the historical repertoire spanning the Renaissance and Baroque periods. → View the full event
