📅 18 August 2026 – 8.00 pm
📍 Villa Mosca, Alghero The Michael Kanan Quartet brings a concert dedicated to acoustic jazz to Alghero, featuring Michael Kanan on piano, Simone Faedda on guitar, Marco Occhioni on double bass and Bruno Brozzu on drums. An American pianist with a keen interpretative sensibility, Michael Kanan has developed a personal style rooted in the jazz tradition, swing and bebop, with a particular focus on melodic clarity, harmony and phrasing. Throughout his career, he has shared the stage and the recording studio with musicians such as Lee Konitz, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mark Turner, Peter Bernstein, Jorge Rossy and Jimmy Scott, and has been a long-standing collaborator of the vocalist Jane Monheit. At Villa Mosca, his piano joins forces with Simone Faedda’s guitar, Marco Occhioni’s double bass and Bruno Brozzu’s drums, giving rise to a dialogue between four musicians characterised by simplicity, spontaneity and musical balance. Admission is free. A project conceived and organised by Contrapunctum, with the support and patronage of the Municipality of Alghero. Artistic director: Maestro Laura Cocco. The event forms part of the Contrasti International Festival, a series of classical and jazz concerts organised by the Contrapunctum ETS Association.
The festival spans Sassari and Northern Sardinia with concerts, recitals, masterclasses and events dedicated to live music. → Go to the full event
