📅 11 August 2026 – 7.00 pm 📍 Aggius, Piazza M.A. Tortu The preview of Bookolica 2026, organised in collaboration with Martedì nel Borgo, presents *Romeo non sa cosa dire* – All the mistakes made on stage (plus those of the audience), an interactive theatre production with live music born from the encounter between Giorgio Manganelli’s writing and William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Two actors and a musician navigate through texts, images and stage actions to explore how we learn to speak of love, desire, rejection, care and freedom. The words we use to build relationships do not arise in a vacuum. They stem from the stories we read, from family and cultural models, from music, cinema, advertising, social media and the images that fill our imagination every day. The performance begins with a simple yet urgent question: how do we learn to talk about love?
Through theatre, literature and live music, the project tackles key contemporary issues: emotional and romantic education, consent, gender stereotypes, possessiveness, active listening, sexual language and the prevention of violence in relationships. The story of Romeo and Juliet is explored not as a romantic ideal to be celebrated, but as a great narrative to be examined in the present day. What does it mean to desire without possessing? How do we recognise another person’s boundaries? What words do we have to accept rejection, express a need or listen to a ‘no’? The audience is not asked to perform or play a character. They are invited to contribute to the creation of the scene through words, suggestions, choices and imagination. Each performance thus emerges from the encounter with the host community and becomes a different score: a collective space in which language can once again become relationship, responsibility and the possibility of change. The event is part of the Bookolica Festival, Lettori Creativi 2026, a multidisciplinary cultural project that weaves together literature, theatre, music, visual arts and participatory practices.
