The (To) Be in Jazz Festival comes to Sassari with an unmissable event that marks the conclusion of the JazzOp series, whilst also looking ahead to a new musical season.
On Sunday 26 April, the Teatro Verdi will host the third and final event in the series, featuring a special project that blends jazz tradition with contemporary experimentation.
The highlight of the day is ‘Jazz Song’, directed by musician and composer Mario Raja, which will see the Sardegna Jazz Orchestra (OJS) take to the stage alongside a special guest: Enzo Avitabile.
A multi-instrumentalist and composer, Enzo Avitabile is a central figure in European world music. His music spans and blends different genres such as jazz, blues, soul, classical music and ethnic sounds, giving rise to a personal and instantly recognisable style.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with world-renowned artists such as Pino Daniele, James Brown and Tina Turner.
The “Jazz Song” project is a musical journey spanning genres and cultures, featuring original arrangements by Mario Raja and performed by the Sardegna Jazz Orchestra.
The day features two performances: at 11.00 and 18.00.
This event marks the conclusion of the JazzOp festival, but it is not an end in itself: rather, it is a stepping stone towards a new season of events and musical productions.
