Alghero and Sassari

Genera Festival 2026 brings together Alghero and Sassari through talks, books, workshops, tours and performances, creating a programme dedicated to the value of generativity and the ability to imagine the future.
A festival of culture and journalism bridging Alghero and Sassari that invites us to reflect on the causes of change, on individual and collective responsibility, and on the need to create new possibilities.
At the heart of the project lies desire as a force capable of setting people and communities in motion once more, alongside education, listening to the younger generations and building a culture capable of generating hope, a sense of belonging and vision.
The programme spans different forms of expression and perspectives, involving journalists, authors and cultural figures in generative Sardegna dialogues, book launches and events open to the public.
Among the key events is the Sardegna 2026 Journalism Award, with the awards ceremony taking place at the Gavino Ballero Civic Theatre in Alghero.
Accompanying the festival is *The Life of St Francis in Comics*, the exhibition *St Francis in Comics Alghero* hosted at Casa Gioiosa to mark the 800th anniversary of the death of the Saint of Assisi, patron saint of Italy.
A journey through information, literature, creativity and participation that looks to the future through desire, responsibility and the ability to create new possibilities.
