The Focs De Sant Joan 2026 return to Alghero with an ancient and deeply felt ritual.
For almost fifteen years, the ProLoco Riviera del Corallo has been reviving a tradition linked to the ‘comparatico’ in Sardegna: the community gathers on the beach to await the lighting of the great bonfire, in a moment of celebration and togetherness.
On the longest night of the year, bonds of friendship, brotherhood and sisterhood are forged.
At the heart of the event is also the Flama del Canigó, a symbol of Catalan culture and identity: a flame that unites Catalan-speaking communities and which arrives in Alghero every year.
The programme blends tradition, live music and public participation.
Among the events is the Palio di Sant Joan, a lateen-sail regatta organised by the Lega Navale: seven boats, one for each neighbourhood, compete in the Gulf of Alghero off San Giovanni beach.
