Maria Nudda, a local housewife, came from a family renowned for their storytelling skills, a tradition that went back to Maria’s mother, known as Mastra ‘e contascias (Master Storyteller). It is said that, to supplement the family income, her mother was invited to important evening gatherings to tell stories in exchange for modest contributions.

Following in her mother’s footsteps, Maria founded the ‘School of Fairy Tales’, dedicated to the women of the neighbourhood. This gift for storytelling was also passed down to subsequent generations: her grandson, Angelo Corda, was a talented storyteller from a young age.
