Aggius lies at the heart of Gallura: a village steeped in history and a true granite gem.
Nestled amongst granite rocks and centuries-old woods of holm oaks, cork oaks and Mediterranean scrub, Aggius perfectly blends nature and culture.
Situated 514 metres above sea level, this typical Gallura village boasts a breathtaking panorama, stretching from the island of Asinara to the La Maddalena archipelago.
On the clearest days, you can even catch a glimpse of Corsica and the Strait of Bonifacio. Aggius is a delight to visit at any time of year and is famous for its distinctive historic centre.
The village is so distinctive that it has been recognised by the ‘Borghi Autentici d’Italia’ scheme and has been awarded the TCI (Touring Club Italiano) Orange Flag, precisely for its authenticity. Aggius boasts two museums that are true treasures of the island, thanks to their wealth of history and culture, as well as a fascinating tradition: that of the traditional Aggese carpet.

The “Oliva Carta Cannas” Ethnographic Museum (MEOC) houses a vast anthropological and cultural heritage, presented through a truly immersive visual journey: from a reproduction of the Stazzo (the traditional Gallurese house of yesteryear), through costumes, looms and antique rugs. • Museum of Banditry Unique throughout Sardegna, the Museum of Banditry
explores this phenomenon, which was very common in the Gallura region from the 1700s until the early 20th century. The figure of the bandit is brought to life through a collection of testimonies and artefacts from the past, some of which belonged to the most famous bandits.
