A journey into the heart of the Northern Sardinia region, between Logudoro and Monteacuto, to discover five places rich in local character: wine, archaeology, folk festivals and authentic flavours. A journey through the stories of Salude & Trigu.

1. Usini – the village of wine and the Andarinos

Usini is a farming village in the hills of Logudoro, renowned for its fine wines such as Vermentino, which has won numerous international awards. The village also preserves the tradition of the Andarinos, a type of pasta skilfully handmade, which takes centre stage at a dedicated festival in August. We recommend a stroll through the characteristic streets of the historic centre, amongst ancient monuments and points of interest, including the Church of Santa Maria Vergine.

👉 Must-try: Andarinos with meat sauce and traditional sweets such as Sos Germinos.

2. Ittiri – folk culture, local flavours and village festivals

Ittiri is a vibrant town, renowned for its ancient history and rich traditions. It boasts one of the most famous and elaborate traditional costumes in the Sardegna, which can be admired during the Ittiri Folk Festa – one of the region’s most important international festivals – which brings the town centre’s streets to life with music, dancing and traditional costumes. It also hosts food and wine events and boasts an excellent range of local specialities, particularly olive oil. Well worth a visit is the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Coros, nestled in a peaceful and picturesque rural landscape, as well as the numerous monuments scattered throughout the town centre and the surrounding area.

👉 Must-try: local cheeses, honey and traditional sweets.

3. Ozieri – archaeology, art and sweets

Ozieri is one of the richest historic towns in Northern Sardinia, famous for having given its name to the Ozieri Neolithic culture, one of the oldest on the island. The “Alle Clarisse” Archaeological Museum houses artefacts dating back thousands of years and a well-curated ethnographic section. Strolling through the historic centre, amongst 19th-century palaces and elegant cafés, you can still soak up the noble atmosphere of days gone by.

👉 Must-try: the famous spianata of Ozieri and copulettas, pastries made of thin pastry and jam.

4. Buddusò – granite, archaeology and tradition

Situated on a granite plateau, Buddusò is renowned for its stone-cutting craft and archaeological heritage. In the hamlet of Loelle, you can visit the nuraghe of the same name, a testament to the Nuragic civilisation in the area.

👉 Must-try: maccarrones lados, a local pasta speciality, served with meat sauces, and traditional sweets.

5. Oschiri – sacred art and panadas

The final stop, Oschiri, lies between Lake Coghinas and the slopes of Mount Limbara. Don’t miss the striking rock-hewn Church of Our Lady of Castro, one of the most important examples of early medieval religious architecture in Sardegna.

👉 Don’t miss: Oschiri’s famous panadas, stuffed with seasoned meat, the real stars of festive meals.
