A journey along the coast and through the hinterland of north-western Sardegna. Five stops featuring industrial heritage, history, unspoilt nature and ancient villages: the perfect itinerary for those seeking authenticity and breathtaking views, following the thread of the Salude & Trigu events.

  1. Sassari – palaces, squares and museums
Start in Sassari, the second-largest city in Sardegna by population and the beating heart of Logudoro. Visit the Sanna National Museum, one of the island’s most important museums, with archaeological and ethnographic collections of great value. Also not to be missed are Piazza d’Italia, the Cathedral and a stroll through the narrow streets of the historic centre.
  2. Argentiera – the charm of the mine
Situated along the north-western coast, Argentiera is a former mining village that has now been transformed into an open-air museum. Stroll amongst the wooden and metal industrial buildings overlooking the sea and visit La Miniera dell’Argentiera, an extraordinary example of industrial archaeology situated within the Sardegna Geomining Park.
  3. Porto Torres – ancient history and the sea
Continuing eastwards, stop off at Porto Torres, an important port and crossroads in the north of the island. Visit the Basilica of San Gavino, one of the oldest and most imposing Romanesque churches in Sardegna, built entirely from local stone. Boat trips to Asinara also depart from the town.
  4. Asinara National Park – nature and tranquillity
Asinara is one of the most fascinating protected areas in the Mediterranean. Here you can encounter white donkeys, explore the buildings of the former maximum-security prison and walk along the paths through coves and hills. Accessible by ferry from Porto Torres or Stintino.
  5. Stintino – beaches and views
The final stop takes you to Stintino, home to one of Italy’s most photographed beaches: La Pelosa. Shallow waters, fine sand and views of Isola Piana make this an iconic spot. Don’t miss the Torre della Pelosa, a coastal landmark dating back to the Aragonese era.
